General Use
AyrMesh.com is the control and monitoring portal for the AyrMesh network. You set all the parameters for your network here, and you can monitor your Ayrstone products to ensure they are working properly. Key features include:
- All Ayrstone Devices shown in one table
- Last checkin time shown for all devices
- Deeper information available at a single click
Once you log in, you'll see the opening screen:
As you can see, the first thing on the page is the device table. In this table, you'll see all your Ayrstone devices, sorted by type - , Hubs, Receivers, IndoorHubs, and Bridges - in one place, along with their IP addresses, names, MAC addresses, and last checkin times.
Names are much more easily given and changed to devices - just click on the pencil in the device's row to edit it. Names are limited to 35 characters.
For each device, just under the type of device it is, is a link for "Details." Each device will provide different sets of details, depending on its capabilities. For instance, Details for a Hub look like this:
For all devices, the name, Type of device, channel, SSID, MAC Address, IP address, and various other data. There is a very important piece of information: the Bandwidth to the Gateway Hub. For the Gateway, it shows "xxx Mbps," as shown; for a Remote Hub, Receiver, or Bridge radio, it will show the actual bandwidth. Low bandwidth can be a sign of obstructions or interference.
At the bottom is a table showing all the attached devices. This window gives you a brief but very complete view of each device.
The uptime is also a potential trouble indicator: AyrMesh equipment should run for a very, very long time (months or years) without needing to reboot; reboots frequently indicate problems with the power, the underlying network, or the AyrMesh device itself.
Network Settings
At the top of the page, you'll find a pencil net to the network settings line; clicking on the pencil brings up the "Edit Network" window. Here you can change the SSID, Encryption Passkey, or channel of your AyrMesh Hubs. You can also change the method of encryption, although we strongly recommend leaving it on "WPA2."
Just fill in the values and click "OK" to save them.
Note that AyrMesh devices don't change immediately; they won't "get the message" to change their settings until they check in to AyrMesh.com, and the Gateway Hub waits an extra 5 minutes after it checks in before it changes its settings. This is a "failsafe" measure to make sure that all the Receivers on the network get the new settings before the Gateway Hub resets itself. If the Gateway Hub were to reset its configuration before the Receivers on the network, the other Receives could be cut off before getting the new configuration, and they'd require re-initialization.
Managing Your Profile
Note that, at the top right corner of the screen, there's a green circle with the first letter of your username. Click on it, and a menu will come down.
If you click on the "Edit Profile" link, you can edit your profile - keeping this up helps us help you if you need product support. You can also subscribe or unsubscribe to the Ayrstone Newsletter. This screen scrolls down; when you have changed the settings you want, just click the "OK" button in the lower right corner.
You can also easily change your login password by clicking on the "change password" line:
There are some advanced topics available, like moving devices between accounts and managing multiple networks from a single user account; those are covered in separate articles. For most users, this is all you need to know, but please bring us your comments, questions, and suggestions!
