- The camera’s “port” may be blocked. We use the service at http://canyouseeme.org to check ports. If, for instance, your camera has a public link of 99.100.101.102:9001 in your ayrmesh.com account, then the port it’s using is 9001. To check that, from a computer on your home network, got to http://canyouseeme.org and enter the appropriate port number (9001 in our example) and see what it says. If the message is “Success” then the port is open and the camera is accessible. If the message is “Error” and the reason is “connection timed out” then the port is open but the camera is not working – check the camera. If the message is “Error” and the reason is “connection refused,” then the port is blocked.
- If the port is blocked, it is most likely that another router is blocking your router. Click “Show Router Status” on your AyrMesh Router; if the “Public Address” starts with “10.” or “192.168.” or “172.16″ to “172.32″ then there is another router between your AyrMesh Router and the Internet, and you have to bypass that router. Your ISP can give you directions for adding a router behind their router. You will want to put the AyrMesh Router into the other router’s “DMZ” (or "Static NAT" on Westell routers) if possible; if that’s not possible, then you’ll need to either “Bridge” the other router or "port forward" ports 80, 22, and 9001-9099 to the AyrMesh Router.
- If the port is not open but the AyrMesh Router has a valid public IP address, your ISP may be blocking those ports. Call your ISP and ask then to unblock your ports.
- See this question in the Routers section for instruction on now to set up your ISP's router so the AyrMesh Router is not blocked.
