Has anyone used Ayrstone with a Closed Network

I'm thinking of purchasing a Hub 2x2 for a closed network setup (not connected to the internet) to extend an internal WIFI network to the back of our property.  The basic network setup will be a laptop, wifi router running an internal IP, and then the Ayrstone 2x2 to extend to the back of the property.  Since I haven't purchased the device yet I don't know exactly how the hub works or what it needs, but I'm concerned that it must connect to the internet and establish a connection back to an Ayrstone server.  Has anyone tried this, or had any luck doing it?
